Beasiswa Unggulan UIB

Sesuai dengan Undang-Undang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional (Sisdiknas) Nomor 20 Tahun 2003 bahwa Sisdiknas harus dapat menjamin pemerataan kesempatan pendidikan, peningkatan mutu, relevansi dan efisiensi manajemen pendidikan yang mampu menghadapi tuntutan lokal dan global, ditambah Permendiknas Nomor 20 Tahun 2009 tentang Beasiswa unggulan, maka Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) akan menyelenggarakan kegiatan “Pembekalan Character Building dan Kepemimpinan serta Penganugerahan Provider dan Peserta Beasiswa Unggulan – BPKLN Sesditjen Kemdiknas RI” untuk Indonesia Wilayah Barat di Batam. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan daya saing bangsa dengan dihasilkannya putra-putri terbaik bangsa yang memiliki pemahamaan kebangsaan yang komprehensif dan tercipta juga World Class University yang mampu menyelenggarakan pendidikan bermutu dan mengembangkan potensi sumber daya daerah di Indonesia.

Kegiatan ini akan dijadwalkan dalam beberapa tahapan yaitu mulai dari pembekalan tentang arah dan kebijakan pemerintah dalam pengembangan sistem pendidikan nasional, khususnya tentang Program Beasiswa Unggulan. Ditambah dengan pembekalan tentang pengembangan penyelenggaraan program Beasiswa Unggulan dan Perguruan Tinggi ke arah World Class University dengan semangat kewirausahaan (entrepreneurship spirit). Kemudian, Penganugerahan BPKLN kepada perwakilan provider dan mahasiswa penerima Beasiswa Unggulan dari beberapa Universitas seperti Universitas Gajah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Pertanian Bogor dan lain-lain. Dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan studi banding ke Univesiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka dengan tujuan untuk mempelajari sistem pendidikan di Malaysia dan menjajaki kemungkinan kerjasama antar Perguruan Tinggi.

Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas penyelenggaraan Program Beasiswa Unggulan serta pemahaman yang komprehensif baik tujuan, sasaran maupun manfaat dari Program Beasiswa Unggulan seutuhnya. Dengan adanya pemahaman yang sedemikian, maka kompetensi dan daya saing generasi muda penerima Beasiswa Unggulan dapat meningkat demi menunjang Pembangunan Nasional Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.

UTeM is the 14th public higher education institution in Malaysia pioneering in the “Practice and Application Oriented” teaching and learning method for technical education. UTeM was established on 1 December 2000.

The university’s Main Campus is located in the green surrounding of Durian Tunggal, approximately 15 kilometers from Melaka City and two kilometers from the Ayer Keroh Toll. The 766 acre Main Campus is expected to be completed by 2010 with state-of-the art facilities and infrastructure.

UTeM has six faculties which provide indepth specialisation in the engineering and management disciplines. The faculties are Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, and the newlyformed faculty - Technology Management and Technopreneurship.

Academic Strengths
The academic programmes offered by the university are conducted in a way where equal emphasis is given to the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. UTeM adopts a unique strategy for effective teaching and learning that includes the following:

Batam – Thursday (6/1/2011) Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) held seminar of socialization Beasiswa Unggulan from Biro Perencanaan dan Kerja Sama Luar Negeri (BPKLN) on January 4th, 2011 at Hall B. Invitees for this program, beside students and govenrment, parents also take part of this event, opened by presentation of Vice Rector III,  Hepy Hefri Ariyanto, SE., MM, that explained the information about the programs, condition, facility and culture of the university, make it clear for both students and parents. This presentation intended to relieve parents’ worry for letting their students to study in Thailand as well as guarantee them about the life and safety there. Second presentation brought by BPKLN Beasiswa Unggulan Coordinator, DR. Abe Susanto explained requirement to get this scholarship also Double Degree Program. This program allows the students to study for several semesters and activities of lecturing/research and completion of final project will be done in Overseas University. After completing the study student will be rewarded 2 degrees and 2 certificates which are recognized by both university.

The International Programs of UIB classified into several programs they are: Student Exchange, Credit Transfer, Double/Joint Degree and Lecturer Program. For these programs UIB had established cooperation with several overseas universities precisely in Thailand: Raja Mangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (RMUTT), and Burapha University. Besides that the Student Exchange Programs had been annually implemented for excellent student, such as: Ship for South East ASEAN Youth Program (SSEAYP) and Australia Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP).

The occasion was closed by the Inaguration of Students Exchange. For this year, there are 6 UIB students will depart to University in Thailand. They included in Credit Transfer Program which learn and study for several months. On January 7th, Raykall Permanah (0742064) and Agustriyani (0742060), both major in Accounting, are set off to Thailand at Burapha University. The remaining 4 students will arrive at KMUTT and RMUTT in this June 2011. In addition, there will be two students from Thailand will send to UIB. Hopefully, this activity will be a great opening for UIB to become the one of the International Colleges in Indonesia.
